I make my living as an affiliate marketer and as such I've tried just about any ethical way to promote offers. Today I want to share three different strategies with you that have been most profitable for me. Give them a try and see if you get similar results.
Promote Directly Within The Content
The easiest way to get started is to promote affiliate offers right within your content. Let's say you're writing a blog post about losing weight by keeping track of how many calories you consume per day. Wouldn't it be easy to briefly mention in there that you're using an online service to keep track of those calories and how much extra you burn through exercise? Of course the link to the website would be your affiliate link.
I love this because there's no hard selling involved. You just mention a product or service that working for you in passing as you share helpful tips and other great content. It's a great place to start and something that still brings me quite a bit in affiliate income each month.
Email Marketing Still Works... And it Works Well
While in content recommendations are great, a big chunk of my income comes from email marketing. I'm sure you've heard that with the advent of social media email is dying. The truth is, it still works extremely well. The basic strategy here is to grow your list via your content (on your blog and website), and then regularly email your list.
Don't just blast them with affiliate offer after affiliate offer. Instead, I find it works much better to share about 4 pieces of helpful content per solo email you send out. A solo email is an email that's designed to get your readers to buy a product or service. Continue to share great content in between those promotional emails and your readers will not only stay on your list, but also have a chance to get to know and like you which will make it much more likely that they'll buy from you.
The Forgotten Pages (Download and Thank You Pages)
Last but not least, let's talk about some pages on your website that you probably haven't thought of monetizing. When I first came across this concept, I was shocked about how much money I was leaving on the table.
The concept is simple... take a look at the various thank you and download pages you have on your site. These can be pages you send your subscribers to after they sign up for one of your lists or product download pages.
These pages are prime real estate on your website. You already have established a relationship and trust with visitors that reach these pages and they are ready to spend more money with you if you have a good offer for a quality product. Promote some of your favorite affiliate products on these pages. Ideally they should be closely related to whatever your readers just bought or signed up for.
